Transmission without Dilution

"When it is mathematically deduced, we call it science. If you believe it, we call it religion. When you find a method to get there, we call it yoga. So what is yoga, what is not yoga? There is no such thing. If you use any process of life to transcend your limitations, that is yoga. Everything - the very way you breathe, sit, stand, eat, walk and work - can be yoga."

What is widely practiced as yoga today has value on some levels, yet it is often only one layer of a much deeper inner science. This is because of the dilution of the yogic science over the centuries.

Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root Yuj, meaning union: bringing body, mind, energy, and awareness into harmony within us and with life around us.

Classical Hatha Yoga is a pristine science, preserved over thousands of years to prepare the human system for higher possibilities. It is not exercise, or stretching.

As Classical Hatha Yoga teachers trained at Sadhguru Gurukulam, we hold this as a responsibility: to preserve the science in its original precision and offer it with integrity without dilution, so it supports physical and mental well-being while guiding you toward clarity, purpose, fulfilment, joy and higher possibilities in life.

Classical Hatha Yoga practice session

This Is Not What You've Seen Before

There is a reason this tradition has survived for thousands of years while trends come and go.

No Music

Your body and energy have their own rhythm. External music disrupts this rhythm and the natural process of turning inward. In classical practice, the only sound is your breath, the nature around you, and the teacher's guidance.

No Mirrors

Yoga is an inward process. Mirrors pull your attention outward, to how you look. In Classical Yoga, you close your eyes and look within.

No Touching

We never physically adjust you. The practice is guided step by step with such precision that your body finds its own alignment. Nothing is forced from the outside.

No Speaking During Practice

Once a session begins, there is no casual conversation. This creates an energy in the room that allows every participant to go deeper without distraction.

Timeless Sequence

The flow of practices is not improvised. It follows a curated, sophisticated sequence designed by Sadhguru. Preparatory asanas first, then deeper practices, then meditation. The way the human body is designed to receive it.

Completely Safe

Every practice is guided step by step so gently that you simply flow into it. No prior experience needed. Your body is moulded gradually so that mind and energy align on their own.

How the Body Is Designed to Receive Yoga

We do not rush into practices. There is a clear sequence, rooted in a science that understands how the human system is designed to receive yoga, refined over millennia.

01

Preparation

Preparation practice session

We begin where your body is at the moment. Gentle movements that lubricates and activates the spine, joints, muscles, and energy system. Thereby, bringing immediate ease, alertness, liveliness and the right foundation of balance. Without this preparation, deeper practices cannot land properly.

02

Hatha Yoga

Classical Hatha Yoga practice session

Once the body is prepared, we move into the core hatha yoga practices. Each posture held with awareness, effortlessly. The body finds its form. The mind and energies follows.

03

Kriya & Meditation

Kriya and meditation session

With the body aligned and the breath settled, meditation is no longer something you "try" to do. It happens naturally. This is the doorway to experiencing something beyond the physical.

04

Yogic Food as Support

Sattvic yogic food

Food is part of the process, not separate from it. We offer sattvic, plant-based meals that are light, nourishing, and designed to support better practice, steadier energy, and mental clarity.

05

A Lifelong Sadhana (Daily Practice that stays with you)

Daily sadhana practice

This is not something you learned for a weekend. You leave with a complete daily practice. Something you can do every day, on your own, for the rest of your life. This stays with you. And with consistent practice you will see how it compounds and transforms your life.

Practices You May Learn

Depending on how the group unfolds, you may be introduced to foundational and classical processes from Sadhguru Gurukulam.

Ashank Bharati with Classical Hatha Yoga Gurukulam certificate

Ashank

Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher | Trained at Sadhguru Gurukulam | Languages: English, Hindi

Ashank began his career as a software engineer, chasing milestones and performance, and eventually saw the need for a stronger inner foundation, where body and mind support what you want to do, instead of becoming a barrier or being pulled by external situations. That search brought him to Classical Hatha Yoga through Sadhguru Gurukulam.

With consistent practice, he experienced a practical inner shift: steadier energy, sharper focus, and a move from "doing-having-being" to "being-doing-having." Yoga moved from being an activity to a way of being.

To transmit this science responsibly, he underwent an intensive 5-month, 1,750-hour residential teacher training at Sadhguru Gurukulam, with 8-10 hours of daily sadhana and immersion in the precision behind every posture and breath.

Alongside practices, Ashank also brings deep knowledge of yogic food and nutrition. Over the last three years, his sessions in corporates and private groups have supported people with chronic ailments, sustainable fat loss, happier and more balanced living, and a practical yogic lifestyle. For many, this foundation has also become a doorway to deeper spiritual exploration.

Allwyn in Classical Hatha Yoga practice

Allwyn

Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher | Trained at Sadhguru Gurukulam | Languages: English, French

Allwyn Joseph is an artificial intelligence researcher and certified Classical Hatha Yoga teacher. After working in renewable energy research and then in artificial intelligence applied to medical imaging, he noticed - particularly during the Covid period - a gradual decline in his mental clarity, physical health, and capacity for recovery, despite consistent professional results. He turned to yoga, first out of curiosity and cultural familiarity. Three years of regular practice brought clear improvements in focus, stress regulation, and physical resilience.

Wanting to understand the underlying mechanisms, he travelled to southern India in 2023 for five months of intensive training at Sadhguru Gurukulam, approaching the practice with the same analytical rigour he applies to scientific research.

On returning, he recognised the same patterns in others: talented, committed professionals sustaining high performance at the expense of their mental and physical well-being. Since 2024, he has combined his research background with his practice of Classical Hatha Yoga to offer workshops and individual coaching grounded in an evidence-based approach.

This Is Not for Everyone

This retreat is for people ready to commit to 4 days of sincere practice and make yoga part of daily life. The focus is simple: establish yourself in yoga first, then bring that steadiness into whatever you do. In a practical sense, this often means clearer decisions, better relationships, more consistent energy, and better performance at work and in life.

If that's you, fill in the form. We'll get in touch with you.

Investment: Details shared on enquiry. Includes accommodation, all meals, yoga sessions, surf/trek activities, and airport transfers.

Classical yoga comprises of various methods to elevate and purify one's energies and raise one's perception to its peak. Today, however, the refined tools of classical yoga have been largely lost or grossly distorted due to socio-cultural misunderstandings that have accumulated over many centuries.

Only in a very few places, the classical system endures with its full vibrancy and sanctity. Moreover, access to this system has been traditionally reserved for the hardiest seekers and monks who devote their entire lives to spiritual sadhana and austerity. It is Sadhguru's vision to revive this ancient science in all its purity and make it available to every individual.

A short form to understand your background and support you safely in the retreat.
